Digital Content and Cinema Assistant

Grade 3, £25,808 - £27,562 pro-rata (inclusive of local weighting) depending on experience. Part time, 21 hours per week. Permanent. Based at BEAM (formerly Hertford Theatre) with the option for home working up to 50% of working hours.

What will you be doing?

An opportunity for a confident, ambitious and motivated individual to join BEAM (formerly Hertford Theatre) as Digital Content and Cinema Assistant has become available as part of the new team relaunching the building after a 4-year hiatus and a £30m redevelopment. This is an exciting time for you to join us and develop your career as we seek to strengthen and deepen the programme of films, theatre, live events and community work in our 550-seat theatre, 150-seat studio theatre, dance studio, community room and 3 dedicated cinemas.

The successful candidate will support the Marketing and Digital Content Lead in all the marketing and promotional activity for the BEAM, with a focus on cinema and digital content. The ambitious and highly professional team at Hertford Theatre are looking for someone to join them who is committed to excellence in their work and to growing new audiences through a broad range of theatre, film, and community events. If successful, you will support marketing all aspects of the new operation; as well as assisting the Cinema Programmer in assembling the roster of films, trailers, and adverts.

What will you be doing?

Some of the key responsibilities include:

- Support the Marketing and Digital Content Lead to create compelling and relevant social media content across all platforms including (but not limited to) Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn etc. in line with branding and marketing guidelines.
- Support the Marketing and Digital Content Lead to schedule Social Media content with Hootsuite (or similar software package).
- Create social media content to reflect and market all events across the building.
- Support the Marketing and Digital Content Lead to source and create video and photographs to feature on our social media platforms and website.
- Assist with monitoring marketing activity using social media insights and google analytics to help ensure marketing activity is targeted and responsive.
- Monitor website content.
- Support the Marketing and Digital Content Lead in the creation of content for the website and ensure all information is relevant and reflective of the current offer.
- Support the Marketing and Digital Content Lead to capture via photography and/or video events across the building to share in real time and to capture for future reference.
- Support the Marketing and Digital Content Lead and Cinema Programmer to ensure a smooth interface between the delivery and marketing of the film programme.
- Support the cinema programmer assembling the programme of films, trailers, and adverts.
- Support the Marketing and Digital Content Lead with the design, production, and distribution of all marketing material in a variety of media.
- Assist the Marketing and Digital Content Lead with copy writing and proof-reading content for marketing campaigns and communications activity.
- Assist with responding to social media queries.
- Maintain an awareness of current trends and influences with specific reference to entertainment, film, culture, and the arts.
- To assist the Marketing and Digital Content Lead in general administration of marketing activity and to have the opportunity to creatively contribute to the development of marketing, promotional and advertising campaigns.

About you

This role will suit an ambitious, experienced marketing and digital content professional who is keen to make their mark on a significant, new arts building in Hertfordshire. If you are an enthusiastic team player with the capacity to work independently where necessary, have an eye for detail and are well-networked in the theatre and film sectors, then this role is for you.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- A relevant FE or HE qualification or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience working in a busy arts and cultural organisation.
- Experience of creating social media content.
- Experience of working with social media platforms.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain an accurate level of detail.
- Ability to make decisions.
- Familiar with design software such as Canva.
- Familiar with social media scheduling software such as Hootsuite.
- Comfortable and familiar with the use of administrative software including Word, Excel, Windows 365, Zoom, Teams etc.
